Francesca, you know Milan inside out. Where do you go to escape the tourists around the Duomo? Can you tell us your 3 secret hot spots that we should not miss out on when in town?
Milan can be pretty busy but there are some cool secret spots I visit when I look for some peaceful moments. The first one is Giardini della Guastalla, one of Milan’s oldest gardens, not far from the city centre, where you can relax under the trees or watch the goldfish in the baroque fishpond. Another cool hotspot is Naviglio Martesana, a small canal in the Northern part of Milano (near Metro Turro) where you can walk alongside the water, spotting street art or enjoying a good coffee at Tranvai, a former tram of the 20s turned into a bistro. The third spot I usually enjoy is Base, a venue not far from Porta Genova, where you can enjoy small concerts, events, DJ sets and exhibitions, or just enjoy a snack while working with your laptop on the wooden tables.

You’re a vegetarian like us! Could you let us know your fav restaurants around town that offer especially delicious (organic) veggie options? Where should we go for a nice breakfast, lunch and dinner?
In Milano, there are many vegetarian restaurants and cafés. For a nice veggie breakfast, I would head to one of the many Panini Durini bars for one of the many varieties of avocado toast; there are many vegan options also at Macha Cafè. For a good vegan or vegetarian brunch, I usually go to Hygge. Lunch means veggie burgers at Flower Burger or a nice “primo” (first course) at Ghea. And for dinner, my favourite: Soulgreen - a plant-based restaurant serving innovative cuisine.

Last but not least - Milan is one of the most famous fashion capitals in the world. Can you recommend some good vintage shops and boutiques which focus on sustainable fashion that we should go check out? (isn’t there a really cool super high-end flea market somewhere I heard?!)
My favourite shopping experience is undoubtedly East Market, held every second Sunday near Lambrate: here you will find great vintage apparel, second hand and oddities in a cool location - an old engineering company, made in the Second World War. A similar market is WunderMrkt, which is pretty popular as well. There are also a few sustainable fashion designers such as Silvia Giovanardi, and sustainable womenswear brands such as Zerobarracento. But I do hope and believe that this is a growing trend :)
